Then I started reading blogs and wondering if others were reading this. I even put a counter on this page and I check the log, wondering where people come from and if anyone links to me. On the other hand, reading the articles about weblogging have me scratching my head. Some folks think that weblogs should be more like a newsletter about the web or other technical interests, others are looking for gossip about the popular "kids", still others are eager to read about a person's inner most trials and tribulations. I guess it's a good fit, since there are folks out there ready to fill the bill for any of these interests.
But what about this page? Well, I like keeping it - one purpose of it for me is using it as "homework"; practicing html and graphics skills that I want to develop. It's fun to think of new layouts and designs, and this gives me a place to put those ideas - I also like surfing around to find new little bells and whistles to try out myself. Another purpose is to think out loud - to journal ideas I have, some silly and about shopping, others more serious, some very personal.
The down side, though, is that knowing this is a public place, I do hold back on some of the things that I think about and would write in a paper journal. I've thought about changing to private mode, but this is a very quiet corner of the web, so it's not a very big issue. I would still keep this linked to Luminous, so it would always have a public element to it.
So, I'm still thinking... maybe I'll create another page to reflect the original purpose of being a place for thoughts, essays, news, etc about Buddhism and keep this as my own little hybrid weblog/journal/newsletter of my life - I need to come up with my own word for that! I love being a trend setter of one! LOL (I crack myself up, too - but no need to go into that, it's rather embarassing ;-)
