The hardest part of being in the field I'm in, was watching the joyful celebrations that Kaycee was "cured", happy for her and hoping for the best, but having that nagging feeling about the severe insults her liver took during her last hospitalization. Trying to scold myself for being a worry wort, but concerned that folks were lifted up only to be devestated.
I'm so sorry that the story won't have the ending that folks were hoping for, but I do know that a remarkable life, a valliant fight, and loving relationships are worth every moment. I also know the healing power in a good death - that the happy ending can be in choosing a peaceful, mindful way to die. I do hope that they do take advantage of hospice care - especially for the bereavement care and couseling for her family.
