One day the pastor of a small church looked out to his yard to discover that a kitten had climbed up a tall sapling and was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk - everything he could think of, but the kitten wouldn't come down. The tree wasn't strong enough for him to climb, but he figured that if he tied a rope to the tree and his car, then drove his car out enough to bend the tree down, he could reach the kitten. He was driving carefully, checking in his rear view mirror, but just as he was nearly there, the rope broke! The tree went "Boingggg!" and the kitten sailed through the air!
The pastor felt terrible! He searched around the neighborhood for the kitten, but couldn't find it. He prayed "Lord, I commit this kitten to your keeping." and went on with his day, thinking there was nothing more he could do.
That Sunday, a woman in his congregation stood up to testify to the power of God. She told this story:
"My little girl has always wanted a cat, but I just hate cats, so I kept saying 'no' to her. The other day, she was begging for a cat again, and I finally told her that if God gives you a cat, you can keep it. I watched my child go out into the yard, get on her knees and ask God for a cat." She paused for dramatic effect.
"You really won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes" she continued, "A kitten suddenly came flying out of the clear blue sky, it's paws outspread, and landed right in front of her!" her eyes teared up as she said:
"Never under-estimate the power of God!"
