I've been having some problems with my home pc that I had been attributing to lack of RAM. We went to Circuit City Saturday and I bought a chip and opened the CPU to install it that night. Imagine my surprize when I saw that at the edge of one of the ribbon wires, had basically been on fire - the single wire was in a squiggle and had tiny beads of melted plastic along it. Installing the RAM was easy, but after I put the box back together and plugged it in, the machine no longer recognized the mouse. Sunday, I got a USB mouse, thinking I would trick it, but oh nooo - and to punish me for trying to trick it, it stopped recognizing the modem too!
I'll call around today to see about repairs - I just don't want to spend the money right now for a new computer. Ugh.
