I really like this show - The Education of Max Bickford - while reviews I've read have complained about the slow pace of the show, I find the story lines to be unfolding comfortably. Like a good novel, I'm given a chance to get to know each character and watch their progress through life. Typical TV dramas have the characters dashing through events and having relationships and "insights" without rhyme or reason. The cardinal rule for TV is to bring the characters back to where they started at the beginning of the show each week - with Max, you can see a building of insights and growth over time. Hopefully, CBS won't try to "re-tool" the show to become just one more short attention span theater. I'll enjoy it while I can, anyway. :)
